Jati woods


Jati (Teak) is a type of tree producing high-quality woods. Large tree, straight trunked, can grow as tall as 30-40 m. Big leaf, the whole in the dry season.

Jati is known the world with a teak (English). The name is derived from thekku in Malayalam, the language in the state of Kerala in southern India. Teak is the scientific name Tectona grandis.


Large tree with a straight round trunk, total height is 40 m. Branch-free trunk (clear bole) can reach 18-20 m. In the natural forests are not managed there is a trunked individual identity twisted. While the identity Blimbing variant has a grooved rod or grooved within; and teak Pring (Jw., bamboo) appear as a book berbuku-like bamboo. Yellow-brown bark greyish, fragmented shallow groove lengthwise in the trunk.

Teak tree (Tectona grandis sp.) Meraksasa can grow for hundreds of years with a height of 40-45 meters and a diameter of 1,8-2,4 meters. However, the teak tree reaches an average height of 9-11 meters, with a diameter of 0,9-1,5 meters.

Teak tree is considered a good tree lined large circle, straight trunked, and some branches. The best teak wood usually comes from old trees more than 80 years.
